Your Gift will make room for you

Proverbs 18:16 says: ‘A man’s gift makes room for him.’  Your gift will bring you to the notice of others and give you a head start in life. But your advantage will only last so long unless you put your gift to work for the benefit of others, by being disciplined and committed. The apostle Paul advised Timothy: ‘For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands’ (2 Timothy 1:6).

Having talent is only a starting point in any endeavour.  You have got to keep ‘working’ that talent.  You can’t simply coast on your abilities.  Much of the work will take place in your character and your private world. Do you know people who should have risen to the top but haven’t? They have all the gifts and talent they will ever need, but due to lack of integrity, excuse making or sheer laziness are unable to share their giftedness with the world.

When we take the initiative and step out on our giftings, God steps in to perfect things for us. People who take the initiative and work hard may succeed or fail.  But anyone who does not take the initiative is guaranteed to fail. So, today ask God, am I neglecting my gift?  Is there a problem I should be solving? Is there a project I should be starting? Is there an opportunity I should be seizing?  Solomon writes: ‘If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done’ (Ecclesiastes 11:4).  The right time is NOW.

So, be Bold this year and stir up your gift.  You will be amazed what God will do with your life.
